Ribbon cutting on unique Danish CO2 neutral heat and power plant
(22.10.2008) Stirling Denmark together with the development company Carbon Serendipity has developed a new power plant prototype for the two Danish agriculture and retail companies Barritskov and Aarstiderne A/S. The new power plant will enable 100% self-sufficiency on heat and 60% self-sufficiency on electricity. The goal is to optimize the equipment on the location to reach 100% on electricity as well.
The power plant is based on the essential CO2 neutral Stirling Denmark technology that enables local self-sufficient power supply from biomass such as leftovers from agriculture bio-material. Stirling Denmark is the world's first and only provider of a CO2 neutral combined heat and power plant, based on a biomass fired Stirling Engine
The power plant will be the first large scale facility in Denmark. Danish minister for the environment Troels Lund Poulsen will conduct the ribbon cutting opening of the new CO2 friendly power plant with attention from the Danish press.
CEO of Stirling Denmark Lars Jagd explains to the Danish newspaper Børsen that the technology is ready for market introduction and he especially expects great interest from remote communities around the world that traditionally has been dependent on diesel generators which are much more fragile, fuel expensive and air polluting.
This circumstance combined with increasing prices of fossil fuels and lack of sustainable bio alternatives on the energy market gives Stirling Denmark a unique position on the world market.
